The Old Bones Femurtron is my interpretation of a popular, classic humbucker.
 
The Filtertron style humbucker has gained popularity in all genre's of music, now appearing in everything from country to metal. With this is in mind I have designed the Femurtrons to be as versatile as possible, so whether you're playing country, jazz, blues or rock (or anything else!) I'm confident that the Old Bones Femurtron will have you covered.
 
These are made with plain enamelled wire, and AlNiCo 3 (A3)  bar magents and then wax potted to reduce any microharmonics. The Femurtrons are slightly overwound compared to the original Filtertrons, this makes them a little darker sounding in comparison, but the open nature of the 'H' style cover means that you won't loose too much off the high end, retaining much of the characteristic sparkle.
 
A3 magnets were the original choice for many fantastic pickups including the Strat, and P90, hence why I feel it's the best choice here. It helps to produce tones that are great across all genres, giving a wonderfully souful crunch to overdrive tones. When mixed with the narrower, and taller size of mini-humbucker style pickups, you get a wonderful level of clarity and articulation that sits inbetween full size humbuckers and single coils.
 
These come as standard with vintage braided wire, and have a DCR of around 5.0k in the neck and 5.5K in the bridge position. These are made for direct mounting (as pictured), but I can make them to fit pickup rings too - just let me know when you order if you'd prefer this option (there's no extra cost for this).
